PUROTAB tablets contain sodium dichloroisocynurate (NaDCC) as the active ingredient. These tablets are rapidly dissolving, effervescent tablets which deliver an accurately known and measurable dose of the free chlorine, recommended for disinfection of small volumes of water. PUROTAB tablets when dissolved in water, it releases free chlorine in form of Hypochlorous acid (HOCL) which is a biocidal agent responsible for killing microorganisms. The anti-microbial mechanism of PUROTAB tablets attributes to hydrolysis of peptide chain protecting micro-organisms cell membrane through chlorination of cell proteins by free hypochlorous acid released by PUROTAB tablets when dissolved in water. PUROTABS kills bacteria, bacterial spores, cysts, algae, mold, fungi, protozoa and viruses. Bacteria like Escherichia coli, salmonella typhi, streptococcus faecalis, Shigella sonnel and other such microorganisms that causes diseases such as typhoid, dysentery, cholera, diarrhoea and polio are also killed by PUROTAB. Usage of NaDCC tablets has been specified by number of government organisations worldwide for water purification at the point of consumption.
